JANUARY 2005 - KAREN STATE EDUCATION REPORT
"After the ceasefire agreement was broken, SPDC more active in those areas and attack the villagers who live under KNU (Karen National Union ) control area. In Hgraw Kee, Doo Pa Lai, Saw Thei Kee and Yan Aung villages, SPDC have burn all the villages including rice in the farms and houses.the villagers are hiding in the forest." download report
SEPTEMBER 2004 - KAREN STATE EDUCATION REPORT
"The absence of middle and high schools limit students' access to higher levels of education. Those families who are wealthy enough can send their children to schools in towns, schools which are controlled by Burma 's military, the SPDC. There you are forced to pay school fees, textbooks, food, shelter, clothes and other costs. In a survey performed during this period, we found that only 68% of school aged children in Dooplaya attended school." download report
NOVEMBER 2001 - KAREN STATE EDUCATION REPORT
"The main problem faced by communities is a lack of food. Many other problems in providing support to the school system stem from this root cause. A vast majority of communities do not have enough food for themselves (96% of respondents) and/or suffer from extreme poverty (100% of respondents) and as such they are unable to provide sufficient support for their teachers, students and schools." download report
